"Love is How We Evolve"

Photography by Ibrahima Diallo

And so, we bloom.

In July of 2015, the Napsody in Bloom photoshoot took place at Shakespeare Garden in New York City’s Central Park. The photo project is in collaboration between the Nu Afrikan Artivist Movement (NAAM) and the Brand Evolve by Bajan fashion entrepreneur and creative, Rhaj Paul. EVOLVE is a premium apparel line designing conscious fashions that inspire global shifts “one word at a time”. According to Paul, his brand motto and life vision is “Love Is How We EVOLVE”.

Together with the mission of NAAM and EVOLVE, Kymani M. Jade, creator of the Nu Afrikan Artivist Movement, partnered with Senegalese urban photographer, Ibrahima Diallo. Winner of the 2015 Virart Gallery competition, Diallo’s passion for New York city’s streets and its people is reflected in both his camera eye and the twinkle in his own looking out at the city skyline.

We were inspired to showcase the natural beauty of New York’s parks and, beyond hair growth, the symbolic juxtaposition of natural hair care, plants in bloom, self-love and love for all that we touch and inhabit. Captivated by the urban gardens of the city, we explored what we love about our hair, and ourselves, colorism, make-up tips and more.
